ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, celebrated World Fisheries Day on today at its Aquaculture Research and Training Unit (ARTU), Chinhat, under the guidance of Dr. Kajal Chakraborty, Director, ICAR–NBFGR.

The session highlighted the growing significance of aqua-tourism in advancing India’s Blue Economy. Presentations covered the status of global and national fisheries in the context of SDG-14, the current landscape of fisheries education and employment, and the expanding career opportunities emerging through aqua-tourism. The programme was coordinated by the team of scientists and technical officers of ARTU.
Over 80 participants, including students of BBA tourism and hospitality (NEP) and Aspiring Graduate Tourism Professional (PGDTTM BTEUP), fish farmers, FFPO representatives, and ICAR-NBFGR staff, attended the programme.
