Jute Seed Industry Meet organized

To sensitize the Jute Seed Industry about the importance of new varieties and the Institute’s Licensing Policy for commercial productions of seeds of the jute varieties, the ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres, Barrackpore, Kolkata organized the “Seed Industry Meet” today.

In his address, Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF outlined the present Jute Seed scenario in the country and the new varieties of ICAR-CRIJAF. He emphasized that the recent trend of increasing domestic consumption and export demand of jute diversified products has enhanced the requirement of quality raw jute for the industries. Dr. Kar urged the Jute Seed Industries to come forward for signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute for commercial production of new varieties.

The delegates also visited the newly developed Solar-Powered Free Flow Retting Complex, Frontline Demonstration of New Jute Varieties and the Fibre Museum during the occasion.

The Representatives of 12 Seed Industries participated in the Meet.
