The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur, Rajasthan organized the “Virtual Review Meeting of Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS) Project of India Meteorological Department” today.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Randhir Singh, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR highlighted the importance of the automation of Agro-Advisories based on meteorological information that should be taken-up with the minimum human intervention with proper predication and accuracy. He also urged on preparing the Advisories easier to understand and in local languages.

Dr. K.K. Singh, Head, IMD, New Delhi stressed on improving the quality of service in the weather forecast particularly, on the Block-level forecasts. He emphasized on making the information related to soil moisture observation in the field conditions available for digitization / automation of long term Advisories.
Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur, Rajasthan regarded the forecasting of weather as essential particularly, for the agricultural operations to achieve the sustainable agricultural production looking at the different agro-ecological zones of the country. He also accentuated on developing the inter-relationships between the weather and climate, crops, trees and livestock.
A total of 24 Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi participated in the Meeting.
