ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, organised a One-day Zonal Review Workshop of the Farmer FIRST Programme today under the Chairmanship of Dr. Pradip Dey, Director-cum-Chairman, Zonal Programme Management Committee, FFP, for four centres of this zone.
The Chief Guest Dr. A. Sarangi, Director, ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar, urged the scientists to focus on micro-irrigation assisted cropping systems and divergent-based irrigation for judicious use of available water, integration with other FFP project institutes with sharing of data for the benefit of the farming community. He also stated that one common village should be developed near Bhubaneswar by all four centres by sharing their capacities and resources.
Dr. Dey highlighted the importance of utilizing knowledge and technologies from different FFP centers to benefit other farmers in the district or state. He emphasized the need for impact assessment, documentation of institutional learning, high-quality publications, FFP Portal uploading, raising sustainability funds, and promoting FPO/FPCs for economies of scale.
Dr. K.S. Das, Principal Scientist and Member-Secretary, ZPMC, FFP, ICAR-ATARI Kolkata, briefed the overview of the FFP programme and fund utilization during 2023-24.
A total of 48 delegates attended the workshop.
